What jumped out at me?
Verse 19 “ 19 Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I rejoice because of you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil.”
Why It Jumped Out?
Obedience to God is very important. We obey Him because of His love, our desire to please Him, and mostly because He is God. Obedience is recognizable. But wisdom provides discernment, direction and guidance for believers towards good versus evil.
How this changes my life
Wisdom is Supreme and by applying her on top of obedience, means that I am relying on God more than my efforts to be obedient. I need the full armor of God. While being obedient, with eyes wide open, wisdom allows us to see less dimly, the truth about many simultaneous spiritual scenarios. Obedience and wisdom are a powerful combination for the lives of Believers.
Prayer
- God, Thank You. I am grateful that you teach us to be obedient. I pray for an obedient spirit as I do desire to please you. Also, God, thank you for the wisdom you have shared with me. Help me to be wise so that I don’t fall into the traps of evil. Open my eyes, my ears, my mind, my heart and help me to see and know you better. Please order my footsteps. Thank you God.
