What jumped out at me? Verse 13 – “So Moses cried out to the Lord, ‘Please, God, heal her!’” Why […]

What jumped out at me?

Verse 13 – “So Moses cried out to the Lord, ‘Please, God, heal her!’”

Why It Jumped Out?

After Miriam spoke against Moses because he had taken a Cushite wife, it was the very one she spoke against who made intercession for her. The one who had been wronged was the one who cried out to God on her behalf.

Of course Moses loved his sister, but this moment reveals something deeper about his heart and his relationship with God. Moses knew the Lord—not just as the One who speaks, but as the One who heals. He knew God as compassionate and able to restore. When Miriam was struck with leprosy, Moses did not pause to defend himself or remind anyone that he had been the one mistreated. Instead, he immediately turned toward God and cried out, “Please, God, heal her!”

That short prayer carries great weight. Moses was not concerned about vindication; he was concerned about mercy. Healing his sister was what mattered to him most in that moment.

This reminds me of Christ on the cross when He said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Even while suffering injustice, Jesus responded with mercy. And when He declared, “It is finished,” He showed the fullness of God’s redemptive love.

In many ways, Moses was living in that same spirit of intercession. He had been placed by God not only to communicate His words and His will to the people, but also to stand in the gap for them. Moses served both God and man. Even when he was the one spoken against, he still cried out for mercy.

How this changes my life

God reminds us that His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. Because of that, I realize that I should be quicker to listen and slower to speak. My desire is to please God not only with my actions but also with my words.

Seeing Moses respond this way challenges me. If he could intercede for someone who had spoken against him, then I should learn to forgive more readily, worry less about offenses, and not be so easily wounded by the words of others.

Moses’ example reminds me that a heart that truly knows God is a heart that moves toward mercy.

Prayer

God, thank You for Your Holy Word. Every word of Scripture is spirit and life, and it has the power to quicken our hearts toward righteousness.

Forgive me for every word I have spoken that did not please You. Cleanse my heart and help me to be quick to listen and slow to speak. Teach me to hold my tongue when I should and to respond with grace.

Thank You for healing us, restoring us, and continually reminding us of Your eternal truths. Your mercy is great, and I am grateful.

May Your will be done in my life.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

What jumped out at me?

Verses 4-5 “When you, Lord, went out from Seir,
when you marched from the land of Edom,
the earth shook, the heavens poured,
    the clouds poured down water.
5 The mountains quaked before the Lord, the One of Sinai,
before the Lord, the God of Israel.

Why it Jumped Out

God moves Mightily. In this instance, God atmospherically defeated Israel’s enemies. He poured down water upon Israel’s enemies to drown, stagnate and hinder the enemies of God. Their fast chariots could not even be used against Israel as planned.

How this changes my life

I dislike suffering. I hate violence and harm, especially when it is unnecessary. But, while it is seemingly easier to physically war against foes, I have learned, it is better to pray, trust and ask God to avenge my enemies. This Scripture reminds me of the mountains and enemies that God has invisibly dismantled before me. I believe this is every child of God’s fate. That no weapon formed against us, His Body, shall prosper, and that the Gates of Hell shall not prevail against Her.

Prayer

Father, thank you for your Holy Word which fulfills many purposes. Thank you that is at work within our hearts. I am glad Lord for the testimonies, songs, prophecies and experiences where you won wars for us. You are faithful. You are good. You are the Only Wise God.

Amen.

Invite Him into our Bible Study

Ask Him to guide us through His Word by His Spirit

Ask Him to bless the people richly with abundant living, health and strength

PSALM 91

Written as a prayer of Moses that shared the attributes of a relationship with God with millions and millions and millions of people. This will help us to see the attributes of God easier. By recognizing the attributes of God, we, His creation, will know the truth Him and ourselves better.

4 Points

Read v1.

1. Dwell in His Presence – in Hebrew – Yashab which means to remain in, to reside in, to be married to and to inhabit. This depicts a measure of permanency.

You see, God is not a temporary or one-time God. He is an Eternal God.

Naturally, while man wants to experience instant healing or to see a quick move of God, or even a sign by God, God didn’t have the short term in mind for you. Instead while we think in the short term, God who is an Eternal God has a long term relationship, an Eternal relationship in mind for each of His children.

When you are dwelling in the secret place of the Most High God, you are hidden from many things of the world. That is why it is called the secret place. While we have some challenges, there are many, many carnal things that the child of God simply doesn’t encounter. Satan is on a leash and there is still much evil that God has not allowed us to experience.

Therefore, We trust and find safety in His arms.

Matthew 6:6 Jesus told us that when we pray, we should go to our secret place, close the door and pray to the Father who is in secret, and He will reward you openly.

Read v2.

2. SAY I will say, He is my refuge.

“Consider both the power and agreement when words are intentionally spoken by faith and in alignment with God’s Word and God’s Will.

Mark 11:23 says, For sure, I say to you whoever says to this mountain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believe those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

When you speak you wrap your words with faith and expect what you have spoken to occur. By faith, in reverence, speak, ask God specifically, and it will be done for you.

Point 1 – Dwell in the secret place of the Most High God

Point 2 – Say, He is my refuge

Read v11.

3. Don’t worry. You are not alone.

Verse 11 informs us that we are not by ourselves. His word confirms that we have angels encamped around us and Hebrews 1:14 says Aren’t all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

Therefore, God who knows what we need before we ask, and provides all of our needs according to His riches in glory also provided our ministerial needs by sending angels to serve us with.

So, Point 3, Don’t Worry, You are not Alone.

Read v13.

13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

Point 4, You Win. You Have the Promised Victory! You shall tread.

That means you shall march upon that which feared you the most. The victory in Christ is Promised to the overcomer. You are more than a conqueror and Greater is He who is in you than He who is in this world. Jesus gave us the victory over sickness, disease and evil when He died on the Cross 2000+ years ago.

Some more Scriptures on the Victory He has promised.

Recapping (After Scriptures),

There are 4 points.

1. Dwell – remain eternally, He will never leave us, we don’t have to leave him

2. Speak – That God is your refuge and whatever else you need from God

3. Don’t worry – Invite angels to encamp around you and your family

4. You Have the Victory through and in Christ Jesus

Matthew 11

What jumped out at me?

Verse 1-2 “ How the gold has lost its luster,
    the fine gold become dull!
The sacred gems are scattered
    at every street corner.

2 How the precious children of Zion,
once worth their weight in gold,
are now considered as pots of clay,
the work of a potter’s hands!

Instantly I understood the words of this prophecy. It reminds me of the importance of revering and fearing God. Israel lost or was going to lose some of the blessings of the Lord, which they seem to have taken for granted and chosen to accept sin into their lives.

Why it Jumped Out

I am reminded to respect the awe of God out of holy respect in my personal life. All things are held together by the Word of His power, and I certainly need Him to hold me together. Therefore, I am thankful for His goodness and kindness through grace and mercy towards me. I would not be satisfied if I turned towards sin and abandoned God. I would not be pleased if God didn’t bless me with His Presence, guidance, protection, promise and hope in Him.

How this changes my life

What jumped out at me?

Verse 24-25 24 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, “Go, worship the Lord. Even your women and children may go with you; only leave your flocks and herds behind.”

25 But Moses said, “You must allow us to have sacrifices and burnt offerings to present to the Lord our God. 26 Our livestock too must go with us; not a hoof is to be left behind. We have to use some of them in worshiping the Lord our God, and until we get there we will not know what we are to use to worship the Lord.”

Why it Jumped OutI am reminded of the fear that men in earthly power have. They attempt to fearfully and partially “bless”, with large reservation. Maybe it is human nature, but here Pharoah was simply afraid to fully trust God and maintain Egypt with the work of indigenous people. He had richly benefitted from using the children of Israel as slaves, and he refused to let them go entirely.

How this changes my life

Firstly, I am not to utilize people for gain. I will try to work harder to gain win-win relationship experiences, bless others and appreciate them as people of God. Secondly, while I may not have as much as others, I have been given much. May I approach people and resources through God’s grace in order to accomplish God’s purpose with them. May I always be able to hear from God.

Prayer

Lord, Thank you for Your Word. Thank you for the examples of suffering, your love, deliverance and restoration through Christ Jesus. May we never forget the value that you provide to our lives through the Work of the Cross. I appreciate you caring enough for each one of us that you saved us individually and corporately as well.
Psalm 55

“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” (Psalm 55:22)

What Jumped Out

I have heard Psalm 55:22 used in many sermons: “Cast your burden upon the Lord, and He will sustain you.” While I appreciate that, there are many other nuggets in the entire psalm.

David asks God for attention. He is intense and honest. He mourns and makes noise with his complaint. He describes the voice of the enemy and oppression of the wicked. It is amazing how an enemy will use their voice against you. Slander, betrayal, lying, and more can come through words.

Why It Matters

Psalm 55 shows me that pain has language, but it also shows me where to bring that language. David does not pretend he is fine. He brings it to God.

Betrayal can shake you because it often comes from closeness and trust. But this psalm teaches me that the first and best response is not to retaliate, rehearse, or harden. It is to cast the burden on the Lord, because He sustains the righteous and keeps them from being moved.

How This Changes My Life

This reminds me that I do not have to carry what was done to me. I can bring it to God quickly, honestly, and consistently.

It also challenges my heart posture. I do not want to become bitter or guarded. I want to remain steady, sustained by the Lord, and anchored in truth.

Prayer

Father, thank You that You sustain the righteous. Teach me to cast burdens on You quickly. Guard my heart from bitterness. Keep me steady and unmoved. Help me to respond in a way that honors You.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
